A blue moon refers either to the presence of a second full moon in a calendar month, to the third full moon in a season containing four, or to a moon that appears blue due to atmospheric effects. So it was a perfect time for my challenge of getting a good moon picture. I had a low cloud bank for the moon to get above first.

This is my usual moon picture with the moon so bright that it is all washed out.

Here is the true blue moon just above the cloud bank with the last sun rays bouncing of the atmosphere onto the moon
